New Delhi: Modi and Trump will be meeting for the first time on the 26th of June during Modi’s visit to the scheduled on the 25th. These two have been on telephonic conversation twice or thrice after Trump was elected in January.
The initial meeting is not expected to achieve a lot but is essentially for breaking the ice post Trump’s statement on India benefitting from the Paris Climate Pact. Trump had earlier accused India of entering the Paris pact only because of the millions it would be getting as aid. The meeting also assumes significance because of US’s recent affection for China which might prove to be harmful for India.
