Apex Court bans registration of non-BS IV vehicles, auto industry hit

New Delhi: In a blow to automobile firms, the Supreme Court on Wednesday banned sale and registration of non BS-IV compliant vehicles across the country from April 1 when the new emission norms come into force.The Apex court observed that health of the people is far more important than the commercial interests of the manufacturers. It said that the makers of such vehicles have declined to take sufficient proactive steps despite being fully aware that the firms would be required to manufacture only BS-IV compliant vehicles from first of next month.

RelianceJio, Paytm apologise to PM

New Delhi: Reliance Jio and Paytm have apologized for using Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph in their advertisements,

without permission. Minister of State for Consumer Affairs C.R Chaudhary told Rajya Sabha, his ministry had sent notices to both the companies under the Emblems and Names Prevention of Improper Use Act of 1950. The Act bars use of Prime Minister’s name and picture for commercial use. He said, the two companies used the photograph of the Prime Minister in their  advertisements contravening the ‘prior permission’ stipulated under the Act.
