Neyveli . Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, during a two-day visit to Neyveli in Tamil Nadu, reviewed operations and development initiatives of NLC India Limited (NLCIL). On December 28, he laid the foundation stone for the “NeyveliNeer” Plant, a Ministry of Coal initiative aimed at utilising mine water to produce affordable, treated drinking water for nearby communities on a no-profit basis. The project, aligned with circular economy principles, will also create livelihood opportunities for women-led self-help groups.
The Minister chaired a review meeting on NLCIL’s performance and growth roadmap and interacted with young engineers, urging them to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat. He lauded NLCIL’s role in energy security, water conservation, CSR initiatives, youth skill development and sustainable mining practices. CMD Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli outlined the company’s expansion plans across power, mining and renewable energy sectors.
