Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri Raj K Singh discussed ways to enhance Minimum Local Content (MLC) in Smart Meters, as planned under Phased Manufacturing Programme, with domestic manufacturers at New Delhi . He asked the manufacturers to reduce reliance on imported components and try to make most of them in the country in line with the Government’s vision of a self-reliant India.
The Government is very clear about ‘Make in India’. Pace of localization can’t be compromised. India is the only significant market in Smart Metering, and you should grab this opportunity to boost manufacturing of these components,” the Hon’ble Minister said.
MoP Secretary Shri Alok Kumar, PFC CMD Shri Ravinder Singh Dhillon, REC CMD Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan, CEA Chairperson Shri Ghanshyam Prasad along with representatives of IEEMA, EGSM and various domestic manufacturers participated in the meeting.
