The Delhi School of Journalism (DSJ), University of Delhi, has achieved its highest-ever placement figures for the 2024-25 academic session, marking a significant milestone that reflects its rising stature in the media and communication sector and its focus on practical training and industry integration. This year, students secured placements in reputed media organizations such as Dainik Jagran, Zee TV, NDTV, News Nation, and Informist Media, with roles spanning trainee reporting, research, content creation, and paid editorial training leading to confirmed jobs. Additionally, there was a notable increase in quality internships for third- and fourth-year students across national and digital media platforms, with approximately 65% gaining valuable industry experience through internships at Aaj Tak, India Today, Politicalbazaar.com, Yesya Media, and Swadesh 24×7. This marks a dramatic leap from just two placements and five internships in 2023 to 13 placements and 19 internships in 2025, indicating a strengthened industry engagement under the leadership of Dr. Sanjay Verma, the newly appointed Officer on Special Duty, who envisions DSJ becoming a national hub for media education through mentorship, experiential learning, and industry collaborations.
Dr. Verma emphasizes building a future-ready ecosystem where students experience both academic rigor and practical excellence by expanding professional networks and inviting industry mentors, aiming to make DSJ synonymous with quality journalism training. The Training and Placement Cell has played a crucial role in this transformation, aligning with Dr. Verma’s vision of creating a vibrant, industry-linked environment that prepares students for the rapidly evolving media landscape. His strategic approach focuses on mentorship, experiential learning, and institutional collaboration to ensure students are equipped with the skills and connections needed to excel in the competitive media industry.
