NEW DELHI. The Government has assured sufficient availability of fertilizers, crop seeds and agrochemicals for the ongoing Kharif season despite disruptions arising from the West Asia crisis. Officials informed that over 185 lakh quintals of Kharif seeds are available, along with 46% of fertilizers as opening stock, ensuring smooth agricultural operations. States have also been advised to promote biopesticides and sustainable practices, while prices of key crops like tomato, onion and potato remain stable with an improving trend.
The government’s proactive measures are aimed at safeguarding farmers and consumers by ensuring supply stability and price control. Steps such as moderating aviation fuel price hikes, maintaining adequate crude oil inventory, and reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel are helping cushion the impact of global volatility. Additionally, assistance to Indian nationals in affected regions highlights coordinated efforts, making the initiative crucial for maintaining economic stability and public confidence during the crisis.
