MMRDA decided to extend a flyover from sea link to box to decongest the existing traffic on WEH highway .MMRDA targeted to build it before monsoon .Currently every day witness heavy traffic due to bottleneck at bandra bkc junction .More congestion add due to metro work . But now new flyover may give some relief Meanwhile The skywalk will be dismantled to facilitate the Kalanagar junction improvement project
Bandra skywalk, which goes above Western Express Highway(WEH), will be dismantled to facilitate construction of a flyover as part of Kalanagar junction improvement project. The project comprises flyovers connecting Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) to Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and a proposed free left on stilts, starting from Sion-Bandra Link Road, and connecting the proposed flyover to BWSL.
A Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) spokesperson said, "The dismantling is necessitated as the portion falls in the alignment of the flyover running from BKC to the sea link and back."
The 100m skywalk portion from Nandadeep Garden to SRA building, will not be accessible from March 25 to June 24.He said, "MMRDA will construct the flyover with two arms, with two lanes each. The 780-metre long arm will run from Worlisea link to BKC and the 720-metre long arm will run from BKC to Worli sea link."
