In a significant milestone for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor project, the construction of the first Reinforced Concrete (RC) track bed, based on the Japanese Shinkansen model, has commenced in Surat, India. This marks the inaugural use of the J-slab ballastless track system in the country.
