Floating solar is a new technology, which saves scarce land, provides a better CUF than conventional solar, and also reduce evaporation losses from the water body, however, there are costs and challenges involved due to water body characteristics, anchoring and mooring systems, etc.
The first 1 MW of Omkareshwar floating solar park was floated in August 2023. Its heartening to share that more than 100 MW of panels have been floated till date and the project is injecting power into the grid.Part of this project is already commissioned and Full Capacity ( AMP , NHDC and SJVN) soon will be commissioned.
Secretary (MNRE) Shri Bhupinder Bhalla visited the site on 6th May 2024.
