“Rourkela possesses all the right ingredients to emerge as the nation’s premier steel hub. Expansion of RSP will usher in an unprecedented growth and development for the entire region,” said Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge, RSP while deliberating on the future plans of the Steel Plant at a media workshop organised by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) at Indo German Club on 6th August, 2025. The theme of the workshop was “RSP: Today and Tomorrow – Media as a Partner in Progress”. About 100 persons from different media houses attended the event.
Mr. Tarun Misra ED (HR), Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Works), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines), Mr. Sudip Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects), Dr. J K Acharya, CMO In-Charge (M&HS), and Mr. Rajesh Dasgupta, CGM (F&A) also shared the dais.
Elaborating further Mr. Verma said, “The steel market is evolving rapidly, with our competitors adapting swiftly to the changing dynamics. To sustain our position and stay ahead, it is highly imperative that we enhance our production volumes. With the unified efforts underway across all levels, I remain deeply optimistic that we will soon witness tangible outcomes, enabling the next phase of RSP’s expansion.” He highly applauded the media for playing an important role in connecting with all the stakeholders and effectively disseminating information that has promoted transparency, trust and greater engagement with the public.
In the engaging interaction session, the media representatives put forth their ideas, vision, and valuable suggestions, contributing meaningfully to the discourse on RSP’s growth, community engagement and future prospects.
At the outset Ms. Archana Satpathy, GM (PR) & COC welcomed the gathering and Mr. Sasanka Sekhar Pattnaik, Deputy Manager, (PR) made an elaborate presentation on the topic of ‘Rourkela Steel Plant-Today and Tomorrow’ outlining the various endeavours, achievements, targets and challenges of the Steel Plant.
A film on the CSR activities of RSP was screened during the event. Mr. Joydev Majumdar, Assistant Manager (PR) anchored the event.
