With the objective of enhancing work place safety, SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has launched an award scheme for reporting of Near-miss cases, as it would help in preventing of accidents. In line with the scheme a Near Miss Award Function was held in the Conference Hall of Hot Strip Mill – 2 on 7th January, 2025. Mr. Subrat Kumar, CGM (HSMs & Auxiliaries) and HOD – HSM-2, presided over the function and handed over the awards to the employees for their exceptional commitment to safety through proactive near-miss reporting. The event was attended by Mr. R. Kujur, GM In-charge (HSM-2 – Electrical), Mr. Dipak Kumar, GM IN-charge (HSM-2 – Operation), Mr. Subrat Kanungo, GM In-charge (HSM-2-Mechanical) and Mr. Jayant Kumar Dash, Senior Manager (HR) and other Officers of the Department.
Mr. Dhananjay Pradeep, Senior Manager (Mechanical), was awarded for achieving the highest number of near-miss case reports, while Mr. T.B. Seth, Senior Manager (Electrical), was recognised for the second-highest number of reports. Six other employees were awarded to motivate and encourage consistent near-miss reporting and adherence to safety protocols on the shop floor and in the office.
The function was coordinated by Mr. Chandrahas, AGM (Operation) and DSO. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Subrat Kumar highlighted the critical role of near-miss reporting in creating a safer work environment and the importance of proactive safety measures.
