EIL revives offshore division, targets wind energy projects

Engineers India Ltd (EIL)  is venturing into renewable energy by exploring offshore wind infrastructure opportunities in India. The company is actively negotiating with green power developers to design and develop offshore wind projects, marking a significant step towards supporting India’s renewable energy goals.

EIL Chairperson Vartika Shukla announced the revival of the company’s offshore division, with expectations to undertake several offshore wind projects within the next year. “We have been reaching out to our clients for offshore wind projects. Our offshore division, which was once highly active, has been revived. We are fully capable of designing the structural elements, including the deck, platforms, and jackets. This is the expertise we are offering to our clients,” Shukla said.

EIL, known for its expertise in offshore oil and gas projects like Mumbai High, now aims to leverage its extensive capabilities in offshore pipeline engineering—ranging from conceptual studies, feasibility reports, and environmental engineering to procurement services and project management—towards offshore wind infrastructure.

Offshore wind projects, installed in large water bodies like seas and oceans, are capital-intensive due to key components such as seabed installation and grid connectivity. The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is promoting these projects as part of its goal to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.

EIL’s new initiative aligns with India’s broader renewable energy ambitions and highlights the company’s adaptability in moving from traditional energy sectors to emerging green energy opportunities.

EIL has also strengthened its Abu Dhabi office resulting in an increase in business inflow from ?93 Cr in 2022-23 to ? 146 Cr in FY 2023-24, an increase of 57% on a year-on-year basis. Till 31st August, the order inflow from Abu Dhabi office has already touched ?141 Cr and the company is anticipating a healthy order inflow in future as well.

As on date during the current financial year, EIL has already secured new business worth Rs 4681 Cr and as on 31st August, our orderbook has touched around ?11,350 crore.

EIL entered into the 60th year of its dedicated service to the Nation
