Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Ispat English Medium School, Sector-20 of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) commenced with a spectacular opening ceremony held at the school premises on 16th November, 2024. The gala event also brought together a galaxy of distinguished alumni from across the globe. Mr. Atanu Bhwomick, Director In-Charge, RSP, the Chief Guest of the Opening Ceremony inaugurated the event. Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR), Mr. A K Behuria, ED (F&A), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. S Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects), Dr. Jayant Kumar Acharya, CMO In Charge (M&HS), Mr. P K Swain, CGM In Charge (TA & CSR), and many Senior officers of RSP were present on the occasion. The grand celebration witnessed an overwhelming congregation of alumni spanning generations, alongside current students, faculty, and notable dignitaries from all over the world. The event radiated nostalgia, pride, and joy as the IEMS family reunited to honor 60 years of excellence in education and community building.
The DIC inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee monument, designed and fabricated by Design department and Fabrication Shop.
The school flag was also unfurled by the DIC after which the School Prayer ” Where the mind is without Fear” was sung by the students. Kicking off the Diamond Jubilee, the DIC released baloons of different colours. He was welcomed by traditional Munda Dance performed by a tribal group.
After Saraswati Bandana, the DIC extended warm wishes to alumni, teachers, students and all associated with the landmark educational institution. Commending the significant role of IEMS in nurturing minds and shaping the career of countless individuals, the DIC said, “This institution’s unwavering commitment to holistic, fostering intellectual growth, creativity and moral fortitude has cemented its role as the cornerstone of Rourkela’s educational ambience. Its success is a tribute to its relentless dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals poised to make meaningful contributions.” Mr. Bhowmick inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee monument and also released the Diamond Jubilee souvenir published to mark the occasion. The DIC also felicitated the former principals and teachers of the school during the function.
Earlier, Mr. Chandra Sekhar Chandan, President, Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee and an alumnus of the institution in his nostalgic address spoke about the deep influence of the institution in the life every individual studied in the illustrious school.
Mr. Aseem Sabat, GM (TS- Education), an alumnus of 1984, presented the illustrious report of the school.
Dr. Sushreeta Das, Principal, IEMS Sector 20 and Executive President of Diamond Jubilee Organising Committee delivered the welcome address while Dr. Nishtha Rutam Dash . and Mr. Subh Siddharth Senapati Saubhagya , both alumni of IEMS , anchored the programme.
Three stalls have been put up by the CSR department to showcase the RSP initiative in Social Responsibility areas. At last a beautiful LILIPUT DANCE was performed by the students of of the school.
