Cyrus Mistry suffered head injury due to accident

Former chairman of Tata Sons Cyrus Mistry was killed in a road accident on Sunday, while en route from Ahmedabad to Mumbai when his car hit a divider in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. He was 54.

The accident took place around 3.15 pm, when Mistry was travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in a Mercedes car. The accident took place on a bridge over the Surya River.

Along with Mr Mistry, Jehangir Pandole, Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole were present in the car.

They had visited the Iranshah Atash Behram at Udvada in the morning which is first of the eight fire temples of the Zoroastrian religion in the country.

Jehangir Pandole, brother of Darius Pandole, is the other person who died in the accident.

Darius Pandole was an independent director in Tata group firms and had opposed the removal of Mr Mistry as the company’s chairman. He also left the Tata group with Mr Mistry.

Darius is Anahita’s husband. Anahita Pandole, a well-known gynaecologist in Mumbai, was driving the car.

Anahita Pandole and Darius Pandole were shifted to a private hospital in Vapi in Gujarat after the accident.

The car was speeding and tried to overtake another vehicle from the wrong side (from the left).

Cyrus Mistry had a head injury and Jahangir Dinsha had a left leg fracture and head injury. We received a call from the district collector and SP that they have to be shifted to JJ Hospital for expert opinion,” said the doctor.

His mortal remains are being taken to Mumbai and the vehicle involved in accident is being inspected by the police officials.
