The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has acknowledged South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) for its exemplary use of technology in promoting transparency and preventive vigilance by featuring the company’s initiatives in its Annual Compendium on Preventive Vigilance Measures – 2025. The publication highlights SECL’s innovative practices in the article “Smart Vigilance, Safer Mines,” showcasing how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital tools are enhancing vigilance, safety, and operational efficiency across its operations. Among the key initiatives, the Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC) stands out for its integration of CCTV surveillance, vehicle load monitoring, fire and smoke detection, and PPE compliance. AI-based analytics enable real-time anomaly detection, ensuring timely preventive action.
The compendium also features DigiCOAL, SECL’s advanced digital platform that leverages drones, IoT, and AI for mine planning, monitoring, and land management, along with RFID-based DDU automation that prevents fuel theft through secure, AI-monitored dispensing. Additionally, the AI-powered Jatayu Dashboard, developed by SECL’s Vigilance & Systems Department, serves as a unified platform for accessing rules and circulars with an inbuilt chatbot for verified, rule-based assistance. These initiatives collectively reinforce SECL’s commitment to integrity, accountability, and technological innovation in preventive vigilance, aligning with the Ministry of Coal’s vision and the CVC’s mission for transparent governance.
