“Customer Orientation Programme for Young Managers” Organized at SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant

two-day programme on “Customer Orientation for Young Managers jointly organised by Management Training Institute (MTI), Ranchi and Learning & Development Department (L&D) of RSP was held at  Central Power Training Institute (CPTI) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant on 11th and 12th  July 2025. Mr. P K Sahoo, CGM (HR-L&D), M. H N Pati, GM (HR-L&D) and Ms. Shabnam Shadab, GM, MTI, Ranchi were present in both the inaugural and concluding sessions. Employees from RSP and Central Marketing Organisation (CMO) participated in this programme.

The technical sessions over the two days was designed to provide a holistic understanding of customer orientation in the steel industry.

The programme covered a range of important themes aimed at strengthening customer-centric practices in the steel industry. Key topics included Understanding Customer Orientation, which focused on developing a mindset attuned to customer needs and expectations, and Customer Value Management (CVM) in the Steel Industry – Customer Interaction, highlighting the importance of effective engagement and relationship-building with customers.  Both the sessions were taken by Ms. Shabdam Sadaf.

The session on Customer Value Management in the Steel Industry taken by Mr. Sidhharth Banerjee, CGM(Sales) & SRM, CMO, Rourkela helped partipants explore and examine strategies meant to deliver consistent value and enhance customer satisfaction. Additionally, the topic of Enabling Systems for Effective CVM facilitated by Mr. Nilamani Mohapatra, GM (NPM),  RSP addressed the role of robust processes, technology, and organizational support in sustaining customer-focused initiatives. The programme combined interactive sessions, quizzes, reflections, and discussions to reinforce these critical concepts.

The entire programme was coordinated by Ms. Shabnam Shadab, and Mr. L Marandi, Senior Manager (HR-L&D).
