NEW DELHI. The Centre for Sustainability for Pure Earth (CSPE) has appointed Shri Satish Upadhyay as its new Director General, bringing onboard a distinguished leader at a crucial time in India’s biomass and clean energy transition. With over 37 years of experience at NTPC Limited, he offers deep expertise in project management, power sector operations, sustainable technologies, and national renewable missions. Honoured as the ‘Biomass Change Maker of the Year 2025’ and recipient of the ‘Eminent Engineer Award 2023’, Shri Upadhyay is also a Certified IPMA Project Manager with an MBA from MDI Gurgaon and a B.E. (Hons.) in Civil Engineering from PEC Chandigarh. His wide-ranging experience spans hydro projects, engineering, corporate quality assurance, and advisory roles in clean technologies, complemented by his current role as Chairman of the Biomass Global Associate Forum (IFGE). At CSPE, he will lead efforts to advance India’s biomass ecosystem through policy advocacy, collaboration, innovation, and rural value creation.
