With 573 fresh cases reported in 24 hours, the total number of coronavirus positive cases in India jumped to 4100 today, according to the latest figures released by the Health Ministry. The death toll has gone up to 77 while 266 have recovered. Maharashtra (490), Tamil Nadu (485) and Delhi (445) are among the worst affected states.
The Health Ministry on Saturday said that over 1,000 coronavirus cases found in 17 states have been traced to the Tablighi Jamaat congregation. The Tablighi Jamaat event, held last month in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, has became a key source for the spread of Covid-19 in India as many of the participants travelled to various parts of the country after attending it.

Globally, the total coronavirus cases surged above 1.27 million while the death toll rose near 70,000, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University. US with over 3 lakh cases was the worst affected country, followed by Spain with 1.31 lakh infections and Italy 1.28 lakh infections. In terms of death toll, Italy reported over 15,000 death, followed by Spain at over 12,000 and US with nearly 10,000 deaths.
