Coal India Expands Thalassemia Support Program

KOLKATA. Coal India Limited, through its flagship CSR initiative Coal India Thalassemia Bal Seva Yojna, continues to make a significant impact in pediatric healthcare by providing financial assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) procedures for children suffering from Thalassemia and Aplastic Anaemia. Since its launch in 2017, the scheme—now in its third phase—has facilitated more than 800 successful BMTs in collaboration with 18 leading hospitals across India, reaffirming Coal India’s commitment to accessible and life-saving medical support.

Further strengthening its healthcare outreach, Coal India recently signed an MoU with Rainbow Children’s Foundation to enhance support for BMT treatments for underprivileged children. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal & Mines, along with Coal India Chairman Shri Sanoj Jha, Director (HR) Dr. Vinay Ranjan, and senior leadership. The agreement was formalized by Dr. K. Prashanth, Group Medical Director of Rainbow Hospital, and Ms. Rekha Pandey, GM (CSR), marking a major step toward expanding specialized care for children in need.
