Gurugram: Reaffirming the commitment towards Fire & Safety, Two Horizon Center organized a Fire & Safety mock drill for its tenants along with the DLF5 Fire & Safety team. Fire drills are an important part of safety procedures for many reasons. Not only do they ensure all that all the staff, customers and visitors to the building understand what they need to do if there is a fire, but a live-fire evacuation plan is and if required improve certain aspects of fire safety provisions.

The objective of the Fire & Safety drill was to provide tactical experience, sufficient knowledge, and training to firefighters and corporate to empower them to be able to handle any adverse situation that may arise during a Fire emergency.

Over 3000 employees from 16 top Corporates; to name a few (Samsung, Facebook, Harvard Business Publishing & Shell India) housed at Two Horizon Center, DLF5 participated in the fire mock drill with trained fire personnel dousing the fire with state-of-the-art fire equipment.

The highlight of DLF5 Fire & Safety apparatus is Intervention Vehicle (RIV).The Rapid Intervention Vehicle (RIV) is a compact ISUZU vehicle which can enter highly congested areas which are difficult for fire tenders to access. It is equipped with a number of high-tech features including an advanced Water mist system designed to extinguish fires using a limited quantity of water. DLF also holds the distinction of being the only private developer in the country to have the 90 meter Bronto Skylift Hydraulic Platform & Water Booster that can address fire exigencies in the tallest high-rise buildings across the city.

These hydraulic platforms are capable of carrying a load of 400 kg. This is the only instance in India where lifts of these heights are available for rescue and firefighting operations.

Commenting on the occasion, Aakash Ohri, Senior Executive Director, DLF5, said, “For us at DLF5, safety is of paramount importance. We have been organizing fire safety mock drills as well as workshops on a regular basis to spread awareness and ensure preparedness in the event of a fire. As a responsible corporate, it is a part of our efforts to ensure a safe and secure Gurugram.”

“The Fire & Safety drill gave us valuable tips on protecting ourselves. We were educated on immediately evacuating the building via the shortest route. This initiative is indeed commendable,” said Kawalpreet Singh, a corporate professional working for Samsung.

The fire drill is a quarterly procedure at Two Horizon Center, DLF5 and is a manifestation of its continuous efforts to ensure that it is in line with its goals on safety and security. Besides the Fire & Safety drill, Two Horizon Center is manned by professionally trained Fire Officers round the clock to meet any exigencies. The building has fire exit staircases leading to a common assembly area. All exit routes including Common areas, Lift Lobbies and Staircases are provided with adequate Auto Glow signage.
