Delhi-based Empower People, NGO has planned to organise an 8000 km 'March against bride trafficking and gender inequality- 2018', for which the NGO has joined NewsMantra, an online protal as media partner to spread awareness about the march.
Route of the March will follow the route used by Traffickers for trafficking girls not only from Indian states but also from Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh which covers more than 60% of Trafficking happening in India, the route covers Indian States of Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
"We are glad to have NewsMantra as our media partner. Our aim on the planned route to set up a support mechanism as this route is responsible for more than 60% of trafficking happening in India," said Shafiq, Founder Empower People.
More than 10 thousand people are expected to participate in the March. The march of activists will start from Diphu of Karbi Anlong District of Assam and would culminate in Shimla. The marchers will organize public meetings in bazaar-haats and seminars with School and College going students in the institution premises. The March will cover at least 8000 odd kilometers in 10 states, more than 1000 high schools, more than 100 colleges and other institutions and last but not the least 2000 bazaar and hats.
