J&K: Four terrorists killed in attack on CRPF camp in Bandipora

New Delhi: In Jammu & Kashmir, four unidentified terrorists were killed after paramilitary forces foiled a fidayeen attack on CRPF camp at Sumbal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district during wee hours today. 

A police official told AIR that a squad of four terrorists attempted to storm 45 Battalion CRPF camp around 0345 hours in Sumbal area that triggered fierce gunfight. During around one and a half hour gunfight, all the four attackers were killed. 


At least twenty one people dead as bus carrying pilgrims falls into Bhagirathi river in Uttarkashi

Dehradun: In Uttarakhand, at least 21 pilgrims were killed last evening when their bus fell into the Bhagirathi river near Nalupani, while returning from the Gangotri shrine in the Himalayas. Uttarkashi, District Magistrate Ashish Shrivastava said, the mishap occurred at around 6 pm yesterday, as the bus fell down into the river. He said, 20 bodies have so far been recovered from the spot and one of the seven injured died at the hospital.

There were around 28 pilgrims, mostly from Indore in Madhya Pradesh in the bus at the time of the accident. More from our correspondent.

With Modi offering prayers, Kedarnath shrine opens to pilgrims

Dehradun: The portals of Kedarnath shrine was opened on Wednesday for the pilgrims with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the annual 'Kapat' (gate) opening ceremony of holy shrine and offering prayer at temple.

According to reports necessary arrangements including food and medical services have been made at yaatrapadaav between Gaurikund to Kedarnath. In view of the safety of pilgrims biometric registration centre have been established at Agastmuni, Guptkashi, Fata, Sonprayag and Kedarnath. Tentage accommodations for seven thousand pilgrims have also been provided at Lincholi and Kedarnath.
