A cop was killed and another injured after an alleged attack from the militants inside the Sri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday.

The mishappening took place when the Cops were escorting a Pakistani prisoner Naveed who escaped during the firing and accused fled from the area.

According to SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray to ANI “six apprehended persons were being brought from the Central Jail, from which one snatched the gun from the police personnel and started firing at the protection party. The prisoner’s name is Naveed who seems to be an outsider,”

The prisoner Abu Hanzulla alias Naveed Jatt, escaped during the attack, was arrested a few months.

As per Deputy inspector general police Ghulam Hassan Bhat told Outlook that a search and cordon has been conducted around the area.

The incident is significant as it shows the militants are moving in Srinagar and have started even operations in the winter capital.
