Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, M3M Foundation, the philanthropic arm of M3M Group, felicitated 134 primary teachers from Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh for their extraordinary contribution in enriching the field of education. Present at the event were Virendra Singh (MLC) as the chief guest, along with Jasjit Kaur (IAS, DM), Rahul Misra (BSA), Shambhu Nath Tiwari (CDO), Dr Aishwarya Mahajan, President, M3M Foundation, principals, headmasters, teachers, and students.

The programme, organised on September 05, as part of the Foundation Literacy & Numeracy (FLN) and in collaboration with District Basic Education department, Shamli, was implemented by DEVI Sansthan, an NGO that works towards providing the dignity of quality education to underprivileged children and adults.

The dignitaries shared their views on the significance of this day and the importance of a teacher’s role in shaping the youth of our country to be a good citizen.

M3M Foundation also felicitated and awarded the ‘Saakshar Scholarship’ to Diya Namdev; CBSE class X-topper who hails from Shamli. Dr Kanodia further explained that this scholarship is a signature initiative of the Foundation to provide financial help to students from low-income families so that they can continue and complete their education. “With this scholarship we harness and nourish the capabilities that lie within the children experiencing financial barriers to education. The success of the scholarship is defined by creating an environment and providing the resources for the next generation to overcome the barriers and fulfill their dreams,” she added.

Chief Election Commissioner Sh. Sunil Arora, Election Commissioners Sh. Ashok Lavasa and Sh. Sushil Chandra reviewed poll preparedness for Delhi Assembly Elections at ECI Headquarters, Delhi .

DEOs, DCPs, Joint CPs ,Chairman NDMC, MCD Commissioner &CEO of Delhi Cantonment Board and nodal officers of various enforcement agencies attended the meeting. The Commission also held a separate meeting with ChiefSecretary and Police Commissioner of Delhi.

Speaking to the officers. the Chief Election Commissioner, Sh. Sunil Arora said that Constitution of India has given the mandate to Election Commission of India under Article 324 to conduct free, fair and credible elections. CEC called upon election officials to conduct flawless election in the NCT of Delhi.

During the meeting, a brief presentation was made by Dr. Ranbir Singh, CEO, Delhi highlighting status of preparedness.

He gave the status with regard to electoral rolls, manpower availability, EVMs/VVPATs, training of all election officials, and SVEEP activities focusing and targeting low turnout areas for increasing the number of voter turnout. During the review Dr. Ranbir Singh, CEO informed the Commission regarding special measures taken for facilitating PwD and Sr. Citizens voters including Pick and Drop facility.

He also informed the Commission about the facilities being created at all Polling Station locations like provision of crèche facility, ramp, water facility, mobile locker, selfie point, waiting area, wheel chairs etc.
Sh. Praveer Ranjan, Spl. Commissioner, Delhi Police who is State Police Nodal Officer made a presentation about the general law and order situation prevailing in Delhi and action being planned by Delhi Police to enforce all the measures as mandated by the Commission.

The Commission directed all the DEOs and DCPs to ensure immediate assessment of vulnerable areas so as to prevent any intimidation.

District Judge Dharmesh Sharma convicted Sengar of rape under the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act for the offence of a public servant committing penetrative sexual assault against a child .

Sharma, however, acquitted co-accused Shashi Singh of all charges. Sharma pronouncing the verdict, rapped the CBI for the “inordinate delay in the case”,

.  The court will hear arguments on quantum of sentence on Tuesday.

The survivor was kidnapped and raped by Sengar in 2017 when she was a minor, the court ruled.  The trial in the high profile case was held in-camera after the Supreme Court transferred the matter from Unnao to the National Capital.

The court also rejected the defence objections that the crime was reported much later and that it was orchestrated by the survivor’s uncle. The court observed that the survivor did not “utter any word” in view of the threat to her life and her family.

The court had on 9 August framed charges against Sengar and Singh under sections 120 b (criminal conspiracy), 363 (kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping or inducing a woman to compel for marriage), 376 (rape) and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The judge heard the case on a day-to-day basis from 5 August after it was transferred to Delhi from a court in Lucknow on Supreme Court’s directions.

A special court was also held at AIIMS hospital in Delhi to record the statement of the rape survivor, who was admitted there after she was air-lifted from a hospital in Lucknow.

The woman and her family is provided CRPF security as per the apex court’s orders. They have now been shifted to a rented accommodation in the national capital with the assistance of the Delhi Commission for Women .

Reports says that women survived a brutal rape some time ago was on Thursday set ablaze in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao by a group of men. The five men who had raped her in March this year, are suspected to be behind the latest attempt to kill her.

The rape accused and his friends took the woman outside her village and into the fields and doused her in petrol before setting her on fire. She was raped by the five men in March while police could manage to arrest only three of them and two others were still on the run.

UP Police arrived at the information of the father and brought the victim to the district hospital. Seeing the condition of the victim here, Lucknow has been referred. Meanwhile, the police have arrested the five accused. Two of the arrested accused are also accused in the gang rape case along with the woman and she was recently granted bail. The gang-rape accused, together with their friends, carried out the incident.

SP Vikrant Veer told that a case was registered in Lalganj police station area of Rae Bareli in March. It was alleged on behalf of the girl that two people were gangraped on the pretext of marriage. The names of these two accused are also involved in the incident of burning petrol. The victim’s family says that the accused, who were released from jail, had been threatening them for the last two days.

The victim has said that she was going to Baiswara Bihar railway station to catch a train to go to Rae Bareli. At Gaura Mor, village Harishankar Trivedi, Kishore, Shubham, Shivam and Umesh surrounded him and stabbed him with a stick on his head and a knife on his neck. Meanwhile, when she fell due to dizziness, the accused put petrol and set it on fire.

A cylinder exploded inside a two-storey house in Mau’s Mohammadabad area. So strong was the impact of the blast that the building came crashing down.

People in the area said that they heard a loud explosion and flames erupted from the building soon after.

A rescue operation is on at the site of the collapsed house. Ambulances and a huge crowd gathered at the site.

Meanwhile UP CM Yogi Adityanath has asked the district officials to make sure that the injured and families of those who have died get all the help.

The weather forecasting agency said isolated places over Konkan, Goa, West Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan and Gangetic West Bengal are also expected to witness incessant rains later in the day.

In Uttar Pradesh, the IMD said rain/thundershowers and lightning are very likely to occur in the next three hours at isolated places over Jhansi, Jalaun, Rampur, Bareilly, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, Moradabad districts and adjoining areas.

Intense spells of rain are very likely to occur in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri and Nashik in the next four hours, the forecaster observed.

Northeastern states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura are also likely to witness heavy spells of rain until July 27.

“By July 29, the Monsoon Trough will once again start shifting to North that would lead to the revival of Monsoon activities over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Hence, we can say that the northeastern states will continue to witness good rain and thundershowers for the rest of July,” said Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency.

Strong winds of speed hovering around 40-50 kmph are likely to prevail over southwest and the west-central Arabian Sea. Rough to very rough sea conditions are very likely to prevail along and off south Tamil Nadu coast, it added.
