Around 250 employees including executives and contract workers of Steel Melting Shop-II, Steel Melting Shop – II (Projects) and Calcining Plant – II of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant took part in the Road Safety Awareness Campaign organized on 23rd October 2024. The participants formed a human chain stretching from Quality Chown to Steel Melting Shop-II Chowk. The campaign was led by Mr. T P Sivasankar, CGM (SMS-II). Mr. D Mohanty, GM In-charge (CP-II), Mr. P S Thakare, GM (Safety) and other officers of the Department were present on the occasion.
The campaign focused on various aspects related to safe driving, like speed limit, red light violation and overtaking nuisance. Placards and banners with relevant messages and slogans were displayed. Pamphlets of Road Safety were distributed. The main objective of the campaign was to strengthen the safety habits and foster a robust safety culture within the organization.
The road safety campaign aimed to raise awareness among commuters, emphasizing the importance of staying vigilant while driving and ensuring comprehensive road safety within the plant. The initiative seeks to cultivate a culture of responsibility and adherence to road safety guidelines.
The programme was jointly coordinated by the Safety Officers of respective Departments in association with Safety Engineering Department.
