Free Cervical cancer vaccination camps will be organized by the Government at Ispat General Hospital (IGH) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) every Saturday starting from 18th July 2026 (Saturday). Girls born between July 2011 to July 2012 are eligible to get the vaccine, which will be administered in the New OPD Block of IGH between 5 pm to 7 pm.
It is noteworthy that Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women globally. Although it is one of the most preventable and treatable forms of cancer, yet it remains one of the most common causes of death for women. It often develops silently without any symptoms in the earliest stages and by the time it is detected the disease may have already advanced to a stage where treatment is far more complex and difficult.
By administering the vaccine, the chances of the Cervical cancer can be avoided to a great extent.
