NEW DELHI. State-run oil marketing companies are planning to expand the sale of lightweight, 10-kg composite LPG cylinders to commercial customers to make cooking gas more accessible and portable for small-scale users. Under the proposed plan, these advanced, three-layer high-density polyethylene composite cylinders—which are nearly 50 percent lighter than traditional steel cylinders and feature a translucent body for easy gas level tracking—will be sold at commercial LPG rates subject to regulatory clearances. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between standard 19-kg commercial cylinders and smaller sizes, offering a highly convenient, space-saving, and easily transportable fuel solution for street vendors, food kiosks, cafés, migrant workers, tenants, and students with low daily consumption.
