NEW DELHI. The government informed Parliament that over 11.69 crore hospital admissions have been authorised under the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY till February 28, 2026, including 6.74 crore in private hospitals. Minister of State for Health Prataprao Jadhav said strict guidelines ensure that beneficiaries are not denied treatment, with grievance redressal available through a central system and helpline. A three-tier mechanism at district, state, and national levels has been established to address complaints effectively.
The government also highlighted a significant expansion in the hospital network under the scheme, growing from 6,917 empanelled hospitals in 2018-19 to 36,229 by February 2026, including both public and private facilities. Hospital empanelment remains a continuous process based on need and eligibility, while claims are settled by State Health Agencies within 15 days for in-state cases and 30 days for inter-state treatments, ensuring smooth and timely service delivery.
