SINGRAOULI. Contractual workers at the NTPC Singrauli Plant site staged a major protest against Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) over exploitative working conditions. The laborers, engaged in the Stage-III expansion project, allege they are forced into 12-hour shifts while receiving pay for only 8 hours. Protesters are demanding immediate compliance with the Factories Act, including the payment of lawful overtime wages and the timely disbursement of regular salaries. This work stoppage highlights growing labor dissatisfaction at one of India’s largest power plants regarding fair compensation and legal labor standards.
