SHIMLA. SJVN Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta congratulated the Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS) team for achieving a historic cumulative generation of 150 billion units. As India’s largest underground hydro station, NJHPS has been a cornerstone of grid stability since 2004.

Key operational benchmarks include a record annual generation of 7,610.257 million units in FY 2011–12, a monthly high of 1,222.170 million units in July 2024, and a peak daily output of 39.572 million units on August 13, 2024. Director (Personnel) Ajay Kumar Sharma credited this success to the workforce’s dedication. This 150 BU milestone significantly advances India’s clean energy transition by reducing greenhouse gas emissions while driving regional socio-economic growth through engineering excellence and modernized digital monitoring.
