The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) today concluded its yearlong celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas to mark the 150th birth anniversary of the legendary freedom fighter and tribal leader, Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
DMRC organised an essay writing competition exclusively for its tribal employees, followed by a Nukkad Natak highlighting the life and struggles of Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The employees participated with great enthusiasm, reflecting their deep engagement with the spirit of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas. The closing ceremony witnessed the distribution of prizes to the winners, while all participants were awarded certificates of participation in recognition of their commitment and involvement.
Throughout the year, DMRC conducted a series of activities dedicated to its tribal employees as part of the celebrations. An education and skill development lecture was organised to highlight the life of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, focusing on his unwavering resolve towards India’s freedom movement and his dedication to protecting the motherland. In addition, a special train ride was organised for tribal children from across the country during the Republic Day celebrations, offering them a unique experience of Delhi Metro’s services.
Further, DMRC encouraged creativity and cultural expression among the younger generation by organising an art competition for the children of its tribal employees. These initiatives collectively underscored DMRC’s commitment to honouring the legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda while promoting inclusivity, education, and cultural pride among its tribal employees and their families. DMRC also paid tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda through a social media post on the occasion of his birth anniversary on the 15th November 2025.
