NTPC and Engineers India Limited Join Hands to Develop Coal-to-SNG Facility

NTPC Limited and Engineers India Limited (EIL) signed a strategic agreement to develop a Coal-to-Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) plant. The facility will utilize high ash Indian coal from NTPC’s mines to produce cleaner fuel for NTPC’s gas-based power plants. The project aims to demonstrate advanced gasification technology for efficient and environmentally friendly utilization of high ash coal, aligning with NTPC’s “Greening the Coal” initiative. The signing ceremony took place on October 13 at SCOPE, attended by CMDs Gurdeep Singh (NTPC) and Vartika Shukla (EIL), along with senior officials from both organizations. This collaboration marks a significant step toward sustainable energy solutions and carbon capture efforts, promoting cleaner energy production through innovative coal gasification techniques.
