The CSR Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant distributed 200 saplings of fruit bearing trees among the students of Vivekananda High School of Garjan in Lathikata Block on 6th September, 2025. The sapling distribution function was led by Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM In-Charge (CSR), Mr. Bivabasu Malik, GM (CSR), and Mr. H S Panigrahi, Headmaster (Vivekananda High School). Present on the occasion were Mr. R S Bara, DGM (CSR), Mr. S K Sukula, Deputy Manager (CSR) teachers, staff and students of the school.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Mittra stressed upon the need and importance of tree plantation in the context of Global warming.
The saplings comprising of mango, amla, guava, lemon, pomegranate and some other flowers were distributed to the students. A quiz competition was also organized during the function and winners of the competitions were felicitated with token gifts.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. Benedict Ekka, Section Officer and Mr. Zahid Akhtar, Section Associate both of (CSR).
