JAMNAGAR. Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani has announced that the company’s upcoming single-site solar project in Kutch, Gujarat- spanning 5,50,000 acres and touted as one of the largest in the world will also focus on creating skill development and employment opportunities for rural youth. The massive project, expected to supply nearly 10% of India’s electricity needs within the next decade, will deploy 55 megawatts of solar modules and 150 megawatt-hours of battery containers each day at peak installation.
In addition to revolutionizing India’s renewable energy landscape, Reliance plans to establish training programs, technical workshops, and hands-on learning initiatives in nearby villages to prepare young people for roles in solar installation, maintenance, energy storage, and hydrogen technologies. By integrating the project with its marine and land infrastructure at Jamnagar and Kandla, RIL aims to transform Kutch into a global hub for clean energy innovation while empowering local communities with skills for sustainable livelihoods.
