PowerGrid Strengthens Community Initiatives with Electric Buses for AIIMS and Girls' Hostel at MMMUT

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. has amplified its commitment to social responsibility through two significant initiatives aimed at enhancing community welfare and sustainable development.

In a move to promote eco-friendly transportation, PowerGrid presented three state-of-the-art air-conditioned electric buses to AIIMS. The buses were officially flagged off by R. K. Tyagi, CMD of Power Grid, along with M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, in the presence of Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel), Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra, Director (Projects), and Jasbir Singh, ED (CSR). This initiative underscores PowerGrid’s dedication to reducing carbon emissions and supporting urban mobility solutions, exemplifying its motto of “Transmitting Power, Transmitting Smiles.”

Concurrently, PowerGrid has taken a significant step towards empowering women and supporting education by signing an MoU with Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur, for constructing a 144-bedded girls’ hostel. The project aims to provide safe and comfortable accommodation for female students, fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence. The ceremony was graced by Uttar Pradesh Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel, ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jai Prakash Saini, and PowerGrid’s ED (NR-III), Yugesh Kumar Dixit.

These dual initiatives reflect PowerGrid’s holistic approach to CSR, focusing on sustainable transportation and educational empowerment, thereby contributing to societal development and environmental sustainability.
