The Digital Walkthrough featuring an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) film that has been installed at the Virtulab of L&D Centre is providing cutting edge 360 degree learning experience to the trainees and visitors in understanding the process of steel making in RSP. Notably the Lab was inaugurated by Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, on 28th September, 2024.
Recently, the newly inducted Attendant cum Technicians (ACTs) and Operator cum Technicians (OCTs) had the opportunity to experience the state of the art digital walkthrough. Using 3D visualizations and simulations, the interactive digital experience allowed the 45 trainees to virtually explore the vast expanse of RSP’s production units right from raw material handling to finished product dispatch.
This immersive training helped to enhance their understanding of the intricate processes involved in steel production, by helping them visualize the complexities of plant operations in a highly engaging manner. The lab, equipped with eight VR headsets, was used by the trainees in turns.
This digital walkthrough is a significant part of the induction process, preparing the trainees before they are posted to their respective Departments.
Prior to this VR experience, during a two-week orientation program, the trainees had been provided with an overview on various departments, safety protocols, basic plant operations, Standing Orders, cost control measures, and RPL training. The VR session was coordinated by Ms. Binita Tirkey, Manager (HR-L&D).
