SAIL RSP augments Employability Skill in Healthcare sector

SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) under its CSR initiative has been taking up various programmes to enhance the employability skill of the youth of peripheral areas and industrial slums. One such programme is the one year Critical Care Nursing Training (CCNT). The Critical Care Nursing Trainees receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 17,000/-. Rourkela Steel Plant is spending about Rs 40 lakhs per annum under this initiative.

At present 20 persons selected from RSP’s CSR impact zone, Resettlement Colonies and industrial slums are being trained under the Critical Care Nursing Training in Ispat General Hospital of RSP. They are posted mainly in Intensive Care Units. Here the trainees are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage critically ill patients. The training typically includes advanced courses in life support, such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), as well as hands-on instruction in the use of complex medical equipment like ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps. They are also taught to interpret vital signs, manage multiple intravenous medications, and provide care for patients with life-threatening conditions. In addition to technical skills, critical care training emphasizes upon decision-making, teamwork, and communication to ensure swift and effective response in high-pressure situations.

This training will enhance the employability opportunities of these persons significantly in modern and high-end govt as well as private hospitals and clinics.
