Since the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission in August 2019, substantial progress has been made in rural tap water accessibility. Initially, only 16.8% of rural households had tap water connections, but as of 30.01.2024, over 10.98 Crore additional rural households (73.76% of 19.27 Crore total) have received tap water connections. Out of around 2.02 lakh villages reported as ‘Har Ghar Jal,’ more than 1.01 lakh villages have been certified by Gram Sabhas. Regular advisories emphasize completing tap water connections and certification, promoting progress in rural water supply.
