Lata Mangeshkar, the nightingale of our country has flown away to a better place. She is no more with us but for billions of people, she is alive and will live in their hearts through her voice. It seems as if Goddess Saraswati had come herself to take away her beloved daughter.
Death ,i believe, is not always about grief and mourning. Death is the completion of life. As beautiful as Lata ji”s life has been, ,her death has also been equally beautiful.
Very few are blessed with such a beautiful and spiritual life of 93years ..Nearly five generations have heard her soulful singing with joy and respect. She has inspired generations of singers and will continue to do so. We all can connect to her songs. The purity of her soul was felt in her singing. She embodied the spirit of simplicity, quality and hard work.
When her father had handed over the reins of the house to her in his last time, the responsibility of taking care of four younger brothers and sisters was on the shoulder of a thirteen year old little girl .Lata ji devoted her whole life to them. And today when she is gone ,her family is the most respected and reputed families of India. What can be more achieving than this in anyone’s life!
India is living with Lata ji’s songs for the last eighty years. In joy, in sadness, in devotion, in patriotism…Lata ji’s voice has become our voice in every sense.
Lata ji never used to wear slippers while singing. Singing for her, was like worshipping God.
What a coincidence it is, that in her singing career of almost seventy years, Lata ji, who has sung more than 50 thousand songs of every emotion in about 36 languages, sang a Bhajan as her first and last hindi film song. The beauty of the journey from ‘Jyoti Kalash chalke’ to’ Daata Sun Le’ is that Lata ji never deviated from her duty and passion towards her work.
We salute you on the completion of this great journey, Lata ji!
May your soul attain eternal peace.
Om Shanti!
