Opposition leaders will meet the President Ram Nath Kovind today evening to discuss the death case of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge, BH Loya, sources told.

Action of meeting the president was taken when several Opposition members and Members of Parliament from both Houses had signed a three-page letter to the president regarding suspicions surrounding Judge Loya's death.

The letter spoke of the need for an independent probe explaining the case in detail and mentions the new "revelations" related to the case.

Judge BH Loya, who was hearing the sensitive Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, had died of cardiac arrest in Nagpur on 1 December, 2014, when he had gone to attend the wedding function of a colleague’s daughter. Some members of Loya’s family had alleged foul play in his death.

On 31 January, Congress leader Kapil Sibal held a press conference in New Delhi demanding Loya's death must be probed independently by a Supreme Court-monitored Special Investigation Team.
