ATDC Chandigarh in Collaboration with RGNIYD celebrates World Youth Skill Day

On the occasion of World Youth Skill Development Day, Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Chandigarh, observed the day. A seminar titled ‘Youth and Skill Development’ was organized to mark the day at Seminar Hall, RGNIYD, Chandigarh, Smt. Asha Jaswal, Hon'ble Mayor - Chandigarh was the Chief Guest for the event.

GST Will Now Be Taught In Delhi University

GST will now be taught in Delhi University

DU (Delhi University) is soon planning to include GST in Syllabus for BCom and BA students. It is reported that this proposal has been approved by the DU's Academic Council, but the executive council decision is awaiting for approval.

According to the Academic Council, the students used to study tax in three streams. B.Com (Hons), BCom and BA Program are Commerce streams. According to the new proposal, GST will replace the materials related to other indirect taxes soon.

No Detention Policy In Education System

‘No- detention’ policy to come into force

Under Section 16 of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 specify that ‘No child admitted in a school shall be held back in any class or expelled from school till the completion of elementary education’. Thus, the policy covers elementary stage of schooling covering classes 1 to 8. 

As per the ongoing no-detention policy, students are promoted automatically to higher classes every year till the eighth grade. A key component of the RTE Act, the no-detention policy unveiled by the UPA government came into force on April 1, 2010 with the intention of ensuring that every child aged between 6 and 14 received school education. However, for the past many years concerns have been raised about the negative impact of the policy on the academic performance of the students.

BHU Arts, Social Science to get coed now

BHU is all set to open its Art and Social Science faculties to girl students. Currently, all other departments in the campus have coed classes. The counseling for the new academic session (2017-18) begins on Tuesday. The faculty of Arts is the oldest department at BHU. Women students has a separate college on the BHU campus- the Mahila Maha Vidyala recognized in 1929 by BHU's founding father Madan Mohan Malviya ji.
