  • Fight against dowry; Yogi to lunch mass marriage policy for poverty-stricken girls

    Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath on Sunday discouraged the practice of dowry, up with mass marriage policy for poor girls and announced a financial assistance of RS 35,000 for every marriage.

    He also said to come up with rehabilitation centre for the disabled in Gorakhpur's BRD Hospital campus. Minimum 100 disabled persons will be given motorised tricycle.

    Around 4,100 differently-abled persons were provided tricycles and other assisting devices by Yogi and Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot.

    “A mass marriage policy concept will be there for unprivileged girls with the financial assistance of RS 35,000 for every marriage,” said Yogi. This is launched to discourage dowry system in the marriages. Talking about physically-challenged persons, he mentioned that they are highly talented and should be used in the nation’s interest.

    While providing motorised tricycles to differently-abled, he said "They are not any burden since childhood. We have raised the 3 percent reservation to 4 percent to the differently-abled in jobs. Our government has also increased their monthly pension from Rs 300 to Rs 500."

    Bihar:Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday suggested yogi adityanath that he should not come empty handed to visit bihar instead he should  implement the liquor ban and 50 per cent reservation for women in local bodies in U.P as he did in bihar. “He must be coming empty handed whereas I am here to launch various development schemes.” said Bihar Chief Minister he also had a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his failure of various promises he made to Bihar during the 2014 general elections and assembly polls in the state the next year saying “We implement whatever works we promise, but others forget about it.” Kumar told this in a public meeting in Darbhanga after laying foundations of development projects worth Rs 300 Crore.

    Yogi Adityanath running Uttar Pradesh government said that both public sector undertakings and private sector have promised to invest in the state, said in the mid of the week.

    On the first day of the UP Investors Summit, public sector undertakings and private sector evinced their interest to invest in the state.

    An UP government spokesperson today said, "Among some of the top MoUs signed with the private sectors are: Adani (Rs 35,000 crore), Birla (Rs 25,000 crore), Essel (Zee Group Rs 18,000 crore), Reliance Jio Infocomm (Rs 10,000 crore) and Hinduja (Rs 10,000 crore)," he added. Among the public sector undertakings, THDCIL (Rs 12,000 crore), BHEL (Rs 12,000 crore), Mathura Refinery-Expansion (Rs 8,700 crore), DMIC DC (Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (Rs 5,000 crore), IOCL (Rs 1,500 crore) and GAIL (Rs 1,200 crore).
