A four-storey building collapsed in Mumbai, 12 dead, many people are stranded

The collapse of a four-storey building in Ghatkopar, in Mumbai, has created panic in the entire premises. In this painful tragedy, 12 people including a three-year-old child have died. People are still buried under debris; the number of dead can increase. Rescue work continues on the spot. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. So far 13 people have been safely pulled out of the debris.

A total of 12 families were living in this building. According to information given by citizens, this incident has happened around 10 am to 10.30 am. The building first started shaking and after the building collapsed.

Heavy rain lashes most parts of Odisha; flood alert issued in 6 districts

Heavy rain played spoilsport on Sunday as it lashed most parts of Odisha, especially the northern districts. Major rivers of Sundargarh district such as Koel, Sankh and Brahmani witnessed massive inflow of floodwater due to incessant rain, leaving residents at the riverside areas in panic. 

Bhubaneswar Met office has warned that many parts of the State are likely to experience heavy heavy rain for the next three days under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal. It further said under its influence, rains or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in the districts of north Odisha and many places in the south districts during in next 24 hours.

Ludhiana court issues fresh summons to Punjab CM Amarinder Singh in an income tax case

A court in Ludhiana has issued fresh summons to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh in an income tax case. Chief Judicial Magistrate ordered issuing of fresh summons in a criminal complaint of 2016 that the I-T department had filed against Singh. 

The court was told that summons earlier sent to the chief minister could not be served after which fresh summons were issued, and the next hearing in the case was posted for 18th of September.

Nagaland CM to face floor test after court dismisses plea

Nagaland Chief Minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu will face a floor test on Wednesday at a special session of the state assembly after the Gauhati High Court yesterday dismissed his plea to stay the Governor's directive to him to seek a trust vote. 

Governor P B Acharya today directed Speaker Dr Imtiwapang Aier to summon an emergent special session of the state assembly at 9.30 am for the chief minister, who is facing a rebellion from his party MLAs, to seek the confidence vote.

Monsoon session of Parliament begins today

The monsoon session of Parliament is going on from Monday and it will end on August 11. In today's parliament, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will be adjourned for the day after paying tributes in view of the passing of the present members of both Houses. Two Rajya Sabha members, BJP MP Anil Madhav Dave and Congress MP Palwai Govardhan Reddy and Lok Sabha MP Vinod Khanna passed away.
