Rs 5 crore reward for cops who worked during August 29 deluge in Mumbai

As a mark of appreciation, the Maharashtra government has decided to give 5 crore rupees reward to police personnel who worked untiringly during the deluge of August 29 to ensure safety of citizens and for the good work done in the last few months. 

The government has also lauded the work done by the police for maintaining communal harmony during the recently concluded Ganeshotsav (from August 25 to September 5) and Bakri Id (September 2) festivals.

State administration will enter Dera HQ: Haryana CM

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said, state administration will enter the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarter at Sirsa after the Punjab and Haryana high court appoints a judicial magistrate for the purpose. 

Khattar said the forces cannot enter the Dera headquarter on their own because the high court is monitoring everything. Talking to mediapersons in Karnal today, the Chief Minister said that the prawling campus of the Dera at Sirsa, spread over 800 acres, would be searched only after a judicial magistrate is appointed for the purpose.

Violence broke out after Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's conviction in rape cases, leaving at least 35 people dead. Ram Rahim was later sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Rajasthan gives reservation to jats under OBC category

In Rajasthan, Jats of Dholpur and Bharatpur districts have been given reservation under the Other Backward Class (OBC) category. The State Social Justice and Empowerment department issued a notification in this regard yesterday after approval from the cabinet. It was a long pending demand of the Jat community people residing in both the districts to include them in the OBC list.
