2017 Nirbhaya Puraskar to be conferred on Shabana Azmi, Chanda Kochhar, Deepa Malik, Kamla Bhasin, Meenakshi Gopinath and Geeta Chandran

Renowned actress Shabana Azmi, Head of ICICI Bank Chanda Kochhar, 2016 Paralympic silver medallist & first Indian women to win a medal at the Paralympics games Deepa Malik, noted feminist activist/poet & coordinator of One Billion Rising movement Dr. Kamla Bhasin, noted educationist Dr. Meenakshi Gopinath and noted dancer Geeta Chandran will receive the prestigious Nirbhaya Puraskar for the year 2017. The award will be conferred at the 2017 Nirbhaya Samaroh on July 25, Tuesday, at India International Centre, New Delhi.

Delhi govt's transport dept seizes illegally plying school vans, buses

The Delhi government's transport department on Tuesday seized around 100 school vans and buses that were playing without permits or violating norms. 

An official of the department said, teams of transport department officials checked papers of the school cabs and buses and found that many of them either did not have proper documents or were violating permit conditions. Seventy-six vans and 20 buses were seized by the teams for various violations.

70- year- old man found living with his dead brother for 9 days in east Delhi

An old man of 70 year was founded living with the decaying body of his 68-year-old dead brother for nine days at Karawal Nagar,east Delhi. When the colleagues of deceased Rajendra Bhatnagar, visited his home, they found him dead and the matter came to the light. They said the police officer that Rajendra Bhatnagar, who was a part time teacher, was not coming to school since June 28th. After the colleagues knocked at Bhatnagar’s house repeatedly Prahlad Bhatnagar opend the door and told them that his brother was not well and sleeping in his room.
