Cultural Performance at ‘Junoon’ enthralls audience at DLF Promenade

New Delhi: The evening at DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj, came alive with scintillating performances by students of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre(MIMC). The musical evening kickstarted with the screening of a  short film on Venerable Bhikku Sanghasena followed by Ladhaki Cultural Dance and a presentation of DLF Foundation. Among the dignitaries present on the occasion was Mr. AK Jain, Executive Director (Projects) MIMC.

The audience sat glued to their seats as they witnessed mesmerizing Ladakhi dance. Dancers left the audience spellbound by their elegant and graceful moves. 

On the occasion, Col Prakash Tewari, Executive Director, DLF Foundation said: “It is an honour to host the students of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre. It is heartening to see that their performance received an overwhelming response from the crowd. Their performance was truly reinvigorating.”

“I appreciate this noble initiative of DLF Foundation. Not only it provides a platform to budding artists to showcase their talent, it thoroughly entertains the audience too,” said Seema Sharma, a visitor.

The Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre is a humanitarian, charitable, not-for-profit NGO. MIMC is one of the largest NGO’s in the Himalayan region and has been working in the remote and inaccessible rural areas of Ladakh to improve the lives of the impoverished, underprivileged, and marginalized people of society.

The students of Mahabodhi School are taught Ladakhi Traditional and folk dances in the school itself, as a vital part of its curriculum. They have performed at various national and International events held in the school campus and elsewhere in the country.  They also travel to different schools in India for educational and cultural exchange programmes and mesmerize the audiences with their performances, which are rooted in culture and spirituality. They also undertake several humanitarian activities like providing free and subsidized medical care, sustainable development projects, cultural emancipation projects to protect and promote the heritage of Ladakh and the like.

Junoon is the weekly art and cultural initiative of DLF Foundation. The objective of the initiative is to provide a platform to residents of Delhi-NCR to showcase their talents.  It has earlier explored collaboration with renowned music and dance academies such as Star Dance Company, Bridge Music Academy, the Metropolitan School of Music, Central Contemporary Ballet. So far , it had participation from individual music artists, MAC Foundation, Surela Sangeet Sansthan, Swaranjali Music and Dance Academy and Global Cultural Foundation. The event also witnessed the preliminary round ‘Hitch Hike’ of IIT Kharagpur’s annual festival ‘Springfest’.
