Amarnath pilgrims bus attack in Anantnag, 7 killed, 19 injured

7 pilgrims have died in the terror attack on the bus of Amarnath in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag. The attack took place around 8:20 pm Monday night. 19 pilgrims were injured in the attack, who were admitted to a nearby hospital. This attack has happened in the Batengue area of ​​Anantnag. According to the preliminary information, 2 attackers came on the bike.

Five women are among the dead. The terrorists have been responsible for the attack by the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. A search operation is being conducted in the entire area to look for the terrorists.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mahbuba Mufti reached the hospital to meet the injured pilgrims in the terror attack. Mehbooba Mufti said that Kashmir's head has been bowed down with shame due to this attack. Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed it as a cowardly assault. All parties have condemned the attack. Congress, National Conference and VHP have called for Jammu Bandh.

PM Modi condemns attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there is no word to show sadness on the cowardly attack on peaceful Amarnath pilgrims. He said that India is not going to bend ahead of such cowardly attacks and nefarious mansions of hatred. PM spoke to Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra and chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and assured of all possible help. At the same time, after the attack, Internet service has been banned once again in the Kashmir valley.

Witness told the story

According to the report Yogesh Prajapati present in the bus at the time of the attack said that attack was done  on the right side of the bus and that was very dark on that side. Prajapati said that as soon as the attack happened  driver got swift from there and went ahead a lot and stopped the bus at a chownk.

Meanwhile, it has also come to light that bus was  from Srinagar that too  without police force. When the attack took place, the bus was filled with people and was going from Baltal to Mir Bazar. Meanwhile, the terrorists started firing on the bus.

Highway has been closed

After this attack, security arrangements have been tightened. As a precaution, the Jammu-Srinagar highway has been closed. The bus on which this terrorist attack took place is not registered on the Shrine Board. This means that the security arrangement with this bus was being examined.

All of the deceased are from Gujarat

This  bus was of Gujarat. It is being told that all the passengers present in the bus were from Gujarat. According to the information, these people were going to visit Baba Burfaani instead of the Shrine Board themselves.

It is worth mentioning that during the Amarnath yatra, security arrangements have been made in many levels regarding terror attacks. The claim was made to ensure safety of each passenger, then these terrorists attacked the pilgrims by targeting them, this is a big question. Additional security forces have also been deployed from the Central Government this time to protect the devotees.

The annual Amarnath pilgrimage that lasted for 40 days started on June 29 and will end on August 7. Security forces have been using CCTV cameras, drones, bulletproof mobile bunkers and other equipment to protect the devotees.

Security forces have killed 92 terrorist this year

As many as 92 terrorist were killed in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) by security forces till July 2 this year, compared to 79 during the same period in 2016.  The stats released by the Home Ministry indicate gain by security forces against terrorist, following ramped up counter-terrorism efforts. An official said most of the terrorist killed this year were prominent operatives. As many as 72 and 67 terrorist were killed in counter –insurgency operation in 2012 and 2013 respectively, during the UPA tenure. Also this has resulted in far improved responses by security forces against attacks on their personnel and installations, an official said. There’s a need to continue this movement for more long – term gains against terrorist.

Bashir Lashkati- LeT Commander: 100s participate in the funeral

One year after 1000s participated in Hizbul Mujaihideen Commander- Burhan Wani's funeral, history repeated itself with 100s of Kashmiri localities participating in Bashir Lashkiri- the slain LeT Commander's funeral. Amid curfew like restrictions imposed by authorities and a shut down called by separatists, people gathered in huge numbers on Sunday to attend the funeral.

Bashir Lashkari was killed in an encounter on Saturay between the forces and militants. He was the Lashkar-E-Taiba chief and carried an award of Rs 10 lakhs, he also was a designate A++ militant.

A noteworthy gun battle is in progress between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag since early toward the beginning of today. A lady was killed in crossfiring between security forces and terrorists stayed inside a house in the territory, police said.

"Security forces were fired at when they launched an operation in Batpora village after a tip-off about the terrorists hiding in a house. In the cross firing, the woman was wounded and later succumbed to her injuries," the police said.

Jammu and Kashmir is the only state which has not yet implemented the new tax regime which came into force in the country from July 1. It is likely to clear the legislation by July 6. State Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabu attended the midnight launch of GST in Central Hall of Parliament said that in view of differences among the political parties, the state government had set up an all-party consultative group to find a common opinion from one and all. After the second meeting of the consultative group yesterday, the government declared that the parties were in agreement on the extension of the new tax regime.
